Message 2: Fun in the Sun

To send a beach ball to a friend simply do the following:
Step 1: Buy and Inflate said beach ball.

Step 2: Address and insert a little quote like the cheesy bastard you are.

Step 3: Add approx. $1.56 worth of stamps (apparently this is not the correct amount of payment but they are happy to let you pay the difference).

  • "Don't just fly, soar." -Walt Disney (A personal favorite go to quote man).
The trip to the post itself was an interesting one. As I walk in with the ball underneath one arm and my wallet in the other all the other customers started to gawk and snicker at the sight of me. As I stood in line the elderly (as everyone there was) man in front of my tried to casually look at what I was carrying while the lady behind me leaned over to almost at a right angel to clarify that I was indeed carrying a beach ball and said, "You aren't really going to send that are you?" Casually, I turn to her and say, "Actually, yes."
This stranger lets out a laugh and the line of 3 people begin to ask me questions about whether or not I needed a box and comments like, "You know the mail men will be playing with it till it gets there right?"

What really interested me was that people acted like it was the most bizarre thing to have entered the building but little do they know what is to come.

Side note: You have to keep the sending address below the return address. They only send it to the bottom address. I messed this up but the post office lady was kind enough to inform me and let me borrow her Sharpie to fix the mistake.

Message 1: The Book

Sent: May 19, 2015
Contains:

  • a book, Paper Towns (which I just finished in like 2 days and highly suggest).
  • a lovely note describing why he should read said book.
Before T left he said he wanted to read more books and though he might not have time with his busy schedule, I thought he should give Paper Towns a try.

Today, G, K, and I went shopping for some of the surprised that will be sent. I learned a lot about the Postal Service today and only hope to venture its limits further.

*names and addresses censored for privacy reasons obvi.

Summer 2015: Sending...

Why am I blogging this?
  • Because it might end up being an interesting story.
  • Because it might keep me accountable and encouraged to actually send stuff.
  • Because snail mail is the bomb.
  • Because I want others to send awesome mail.
  • Because YOLO.
This summer my friends are away from home and I have decided to send mail to them, but I don't want to send boring old letters. No, that's no fun. I want to make the most outrageous letters and mail that I can. I began with a search on Pintrest (as I begin all my endeavors), an low and behold I found an amazing Buzzfeed article that told me the unimaginable things that I can send through post.

So I made a list of these and more of what I need to make my mailing the most spectacular. Today, the adventure begins by shopping.

I hope to keep this updated with each piece I send.

Here's to you Summer 2015,
P
